Third FREE Kids Hockey Clinic

Issac was apparently listening during the goalie clinic because his stance is pretty rock solid. Pretty good for his first time, right?

Desert Hockey Development held the third FREE Kids Intro to Hockey Clinic at Bonsall Park in Glendale on February 22, 2014.

We had 38 kids, our biggest turnout to date. Our attendance has grown with each new clinic we hold. At this rate, we’ll have to add more clinics to satisfy the demand for hockey in the Phoenix area.

In addition to our own coaches, we had four guest coaches join us. Thanks to Steve Irwin, James King, Brent Proud, Bob Sangerman and Ben Shroyer for helping us out.

We added a goalie clinic this time and there were so many kids wanting to try their hand at being a goaltender that we’ll be doing it again. Kids that had never tried on goalie equipment made a surprising amount of progress with their skills in a short period of time.

We like to profess we “Never Say No”. All that means is that if there’s kids that are interested in hockey, we will be with them and help them as much as we can as far as they want to go. We fully expect to “graduate” a lot of kids to inline and ice hockey leagues when they feel they’re ready to move “up”. If they want to play informal or street hockey with us it’s fine. If they want to get more serious with an inline hockey league, we’ll make sure they get set up. Same for ice hockey.

Join us next time (March 8, click here) if you missed out on this one, we’d appreciate it if you’d register beforehand. We’ll be running another goalie clinic and maybe, just maybe, trying to put together a team for the first annual Coyotes Street Hockey Showdown
